Implosion of the Old Amway Ctr., Orlando Magic arena on March 5, 2012. This was the absolute closest you could get that day on the corner of Paramore Ave and Ameilia St. A guy 100 ft away from me actually got hit with some “shrapnel” and was taken to the hospital!

Orlando, FL (3/25/12) The Amway Arena being demolished by means of implosion. Demo crews used 520 pounds of dynamite, 80 pounds of shaped charges and 20 pounds of detonating cord to bring the building down.

Debris from the imploded former home of the Orlando Magic strikes a bystander’s leg By Kelly Dwyer | Ball Don’t Lie — 2 hours 32 minutes ago Email Orlando Arena — alternately known as Amway Arena, TD Waterhouse Center, and most annoyingly (a rare feat, considering the corporate naming entities) the O-rena — was demolished on Sunday. With the Orlando Magic now playing their home games in the newish Amway Center (opened in 2010), it came time to end the O-rena’s run. But not before it once played host to Greg Kite in pinstripes, and not without its debris taking a scratch out of a bystander’s leg some two blocks away.
